How do I disable Worm Protection in Norton AntiVirus 2005 or SystemWorks?

This guide shows how to turn on or turn off Internet Worm Protection in Norton AntiVirus 2005. Taken directly from Norton Symantec Support site.

To turn off Internet Worm Protection

1. Start Norton AntiVirus.
If Norton AntiVirus is installed as part of Norton SystemWorks, then start that program.
2. Click Options.
3. If you see a menu, click Norton AntiVirus.
4. In the left pane, click Internet Worm Protection.
5. In the right pane, uncheck Enable Internet Worm Protection.
6. Click OK.
7. Close Norton AntiVirus.

To turn on Internet Worm Protection

1. Start Norton AntiVirus.
If Norton AntiVirus is installed as part of Norton SystemWorks, then start that program.
2. Click Options.
If you see a menu, click Norton AntiVirus.
3. In the left pane, click Internet Worm Protection.
4. In the right pane, check Enable Internet Worm Protection.
5. Click OK.
6. Close Norton AntiVirus.

Technical Information:
Norton Internet Worm Protection is a firewall that protects your computer from incoming Internet traffic. If you have a program that receives data from the Internet, then by default, Internet Worm Protection blocks the incoming traffic, unless you create a rule to allow the program.

Norton Internet Security and Norton Personal Firewall come with more advanced firewall features. If Norton AntiVirus 2005 is installed as a part of Norton Internet Security, or you also have Norton Personal Firewall installed, then you will not find the Internet Worm Protection in the Norton AntiVirus System Status.

If you have any version of Norton Personal Firewall or Norton Internet Security installed on your computer, then you will see the status of Internet Worm Protection in Norton AntiVirus System Status as "Upgraded."
