How do I turn off/disable Norton Internet Security 2005 or Norton Personal Firewall 2005?

The below information is provided by Norton's Support Website.

If you cannot access the Internet after installing Norton Internet Security 2005 or Norton Personal Firewall 2005 you may need to disable Norton for tesing purposes.

To turn off your Norton product for testing purposes

  1. Start Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall.
  2. Click Options > Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall.
    If you cannot open Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall or the options window, read Error: "You have insufficient privileges. . ." or "You do not have the necessary rights. . ." in Norton Internet Security.
  3. If the Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall Options window opens, click Cancel.
  4. In the System Status window, click Security.
  5. In the right column, click Turn Off.
  6. Try to access the Internet.
    Remember whether or not you were able to access the Internet.
  7. Turn Security back on.
    To turn Security back on, follow steps 2-4 above. In step 5, click Turn On.
